I don’t think it was hand-drawn necessarily. Just 2D. And I meant for the whole movie to be 3D, not just the robot. And actually, Miles thinks the robot *was* 3D. I didn’t notice, but it’s possible.

And in any case, 2D/3D combine all the time in animation – Family Guy, anyone?

The Iron Giant was as a hand drawn film right? I’m wondering if they just didn’t want the Giant very 3d-ish so it woulnd’t look so weird within a hand drawn world.
