Falls Park

I’m bored. I have been for a lot of the break. I’ve played at least 10 games of solitaire every day that I’ve been home. And I’ve still done some productive things, too. Over break, I have:

  • conducted a photoshoot with Marissa one pleasant afternoon. Check them out here.
  • been hired by DSU to do some simple web editing. This may or may not turn into a part-time job that I’ve applied for.
  • celebrated a one-year anniversary with Miles.
  • traveled to Madison, Big Stone City, and Council Bluffs.
  • survived a blizzard-like trip home.
  • created invitations for Adam’s wedding.
  • revisited Falls Park for the first time since Miles asked me out.
  • had a dentist appointment. Luckily, the dentist didn’t ask for an MO this time.
  • attended a house-warming party for Holly and Bob.
  • played tons of games.
  • got fitted for a bridesmaid dress.
  • watched football.
  • scraped off wallpaper border and repainted a room.
  • got realigned by my chiropractor.

Here are the before and after pictures of the room.

It doesn’t look like much of a change, but trust me – it is. It began as a bright yellow that didn’t cover the walls very well. When I was done, it was a carmel/latte color on three walls with a “Lucky Penny” color as an accent wall. The picture doesn’t do it justice. Also, disregard the bedspread and curtains. They will be replaced to match the rest of the room.

I will return to Madison tomorrow. School does not start until the 17th, but I’ve got plenty of things to do in the mean time, plus RA responsibilities. Sorry that it’s taken so long for me to post!

Super-extremo Fast Post

Watching Two weekends ago I went to Okoboji to spend some time with friends. I also scrapbooked with the girls. It probably isn’t something I’ll continue to do, because I’m an all-digital girl. But it was a lot of fun! Miles came along and he did boy stuff with the boys. It’s always a fun time hanging out with camp friends. Oddly, it makes me want to go to Disney World.

I only took three pictures, so they’re in my Random pictures Flickr set.

Thanksgiving was good. We spent most of it in Hawarden, but did spend one night in Big Stone City. Miles has nearly met everyone on the Gregg side. Except for my uncle and his wife. It was a good weekend, but I’m tired. As usual. Two weeks left, then finals…

Hey! Anyone want to see a fully-grown man and 8-year-old boy eat chili soup off the floor?

Cast Party This past weekend was my old High School’s production of Little Shop of Horrors, directed by the one and only: my Dad. It was a great show and I heard many people say that it was the best musical/play that West Sioux had ever performed. And I agree. I’m so proud of my dad! And my sister did makeup and this musical required a lot of makeup changes and everything always looked great!

Also, I got to see lots of kids wearing the Little Shop of Horrors shirt I made. How exciting for me! As you can see, we had the cast party at our home. The cast/crew/pitband watched Saturday night’s performance on the big screen. And they often made fun of the recording. (I was in charge of taping). There were over 30 people sitting in our living room (not everyone who was there is in the above picture). Then when there were about 10 people or so left, they went downstairs to play pool. That’s the first time that pool table has been used in a couple of years.

The last person to leave didn’t leave until after 2:30. Don’t high schoolers have curfews anymore?

Nightmare on 2nd Floor Emry

Goofies A beautiful girl wakes up, and goes to take a shower. She returns to her room and whiffs an awful, horrible smell. Soon, she realizes this…smell…is coming from her Halloween pumpkin. The pumpkin she magnificently carved less than 48 hours earlier. She picks it up, and its rotten orange skin melts in her hands. Not because it’s in love with her, but because it is seeping pumpkin juice through the skin. It….is DEAD!

She searches her room for a bag to put it in, and settles on a sturdy paper bag with handles. She lets it sit in its doomed coffin while she finishes getting ready for class. As she leaves, she carries the bag down the hall. Suddenly, the bag becomes weightless. She looks at her feet in horror.

Pumpkin insides are everywhere. Rotten, gooey, dirty, orange mush on the floor. The paper bag is soaked through with the pumpkin’s juice. She picked up every piece of nastiness, carried it to the dumpster, washed her hands and went on with her day. And then she died.

Most of the above story is true, and happened to one Holli Gregg.

Weekend, Homecoming, Homecoming, Weekend

What you’ve heard is true. A second Rausch has met the Greggs. We all knew it would happen, but who would be the first? The Honorable, on one of his business trips? Val AND Paula at a DSU play? No. It was none other than David. We picked up Miles and headed to Hawarden. We didn’t do a whole lot, but watched some football, watched Little Shop of Horrors, watched my senior video that Dad made, and celebrated Mom’s __th Birthday. David also experienced a United Methodist sermon. No big deal. I think David had a good time, and my family enjoyed having our company. I also got to see my cousins Corissa and Brody, whom I haven’t seen in a long time.

King and Queen DSU’s Homecoming is this week. Monday was coronation and Senior Tyler Ruhd and Sophomore Tawny Nordstrom were crowned King and Queen. I took pictures for the Student Activities Board website. Comedy Bytes performed Tuesday night. It was the last performance for Miles, Mike, and myself. I gave my camera to someone in the crowd to take pictures and I added them to my Comedy Bytes set. It went really well! We had some new games mixed in with some old favorites, and everyone enjoyed it. What a good way to end. I wish we had gotten it taped, however.

West Sioux’s Homecoming is also this week. Jared Kool, my sister’s boyfriend, was crowned King on Tuesday. Congratulations!

A marketing company was at campus this week. I was involved in a photo shoot with a cap and gown (very similar to what I did two years ago…) and then was interviewed for a video montage on the website.

Miles and I travel back to Hawarden this weekend. We’ll watch the Homecoming football game. Then on Saturday we’ll wake up way too early and head to the middle of the state and watch some football at the school my brother graduated from. And also hang out with the Leaders side of the family. Yippy skippy!
