Mixing drinks

nestea.jpgLately, Miles and I have been on an iced tea kick. When I think of having something cool and refreshing to quench my thirst, a nice bottle of tea sounds great. I admit, it is an acquired taste. I believe I aquired it from my Dad’s tea habits; Miles acquired it from HS theater using it for alcoholic beverages on stage. We’ve tried Lipton and Brisk. Miles is a big Brisk fan. Nestea is also pretty delicious in my opinion. But what is the best of all?…Guavatea.

It all started the summer of 05 in Spirit Lake, Iowa at the United Methodist Camp and Retreat Center. The juice machine was replaced with a newer, better one. Among things replaced, the beloved peach juice concentrate. It was swapped with guava juice. Not many cared for guava juice, mainly because of their sole dedication to peach juice but also because of its potency. Also included in the new machine was tea. The tea was strong; so strong that most vowed never to have tea again. It even made some develop a twitch.

I, however, did not give up. No, someone (possibly me, but I don’t remember) created an invention that soon became known as GUAVATEA! It required a precise mixture of 60% tea, 40% guava juice. Some argued that the best mixture is 40% tea, 60% guava juice…but they’re wrong. This stuff was absolutely delicious. I’m salivating.

Guavatea wasn’t only good for thirst. It was great for jokes like “This guavatea is so strong, I’m going to fall flat on the ground!” Get it? Gravity?

It’s intramural co-ed softball season! Last year, I was asked by my Freshman Showcase director, Ryan Glanzer (.com), to play on an intramural softball team he was on that was in need of girls. This team is known as I’m a Bowling Trophy. As it turns out, this team was the reigning champions of co-ed softball 2004 and was looking to keep that title. Talk about pressure, since I hadn’t played softball for a couple years. The captain, Jon Waldman, placed me at 3rd base. Who would have guessed that I’d end up being the best 3rd baseman in the history of intramural co-ed softball at Dakota State?

Anyway, long story made uber-short, I’m a Bowling Trophy won co-ed softball 2005 by one run. We tried for the 2005 Homecoming title this fall, which would have fit us perfectly because we had the Homecoming Queen and another candidate on our team. But because of bad calls and some injuries and bad pitching, we got like 2nd or something. No matter, it wasn’t REAL intramural co-ed softball anyway. It was September. We’ve got 2006 under our belts, easy as pie.

Heather comic My title is a Mad Gab I made up. Even at 4:15 AM I am a genius! But also, since it’s after 4:00AM, I probably will have lots of grammer mistakes in here. And I don’t want to fix them…it’s 4:00AM for goodness’s sake!

Saturday evening, after our play and going to Mass, Miles and I went out to Ben’s place. Lisa, Holly, and Bob were there as well. There we brought in horses. I didn’t because I’m pretty much terrified of them; I took pictures. We ate some delicious ribs and beans and chips and then played Roulette (American, not Russian) and Blackjack. We did this for many hours and then Miles and I came back to town and finished Harry Potter III (three).

Miles and I met up at noonish Sunday to eat at China Moon. Then we did homework all day long and he helped me understand Web Publishing II better, now I’ve nearly finished my work with that which otherwise would have taken me two weeks. Then we performed as Comedy Bytes at the KSI honors banquet. Miles and I are members, so we stayed for the meal and everything. Then we rented Harry Potter IV. After many problems, we started to watch it on my tablet. Then he got tired so he left. original I tried to sleep. Three times I tried. I’ve decided I won’t sleep and I will just nap from like 2:30-5:30, before we perform tomorrow at 7:00 and at 10:00.

The picture at the beginning is of my friend Heather when we were in Florida over Christmas break. The picture down here is the original. For Photography II, we were to take a picture and make it look like it came out of a comic book. I think I did pretty well. And it was fun to make. Yippee!

Tomorrow morning at 8:30 Miles and I go down to KJAM to have an on-air interview about the play. It should be a good time. We’ll see how “on” I am with little to no sleep! The Mad Gab for my title answer is: My Life Is Busy

I’ve asked DSU students and faculty to fill out a poll on pirating software. I’m doing a research paper on the subject and want anonymous responses from as many people as I can. In the first hour, I had over 60 people fill out the form.

Anyone who reads this, please fill out the form here. Be sure to change the status to what fits best for you. Thanks!
